Cold Medway are you ready?

Published on 28/11/2011, in Radio Chat, by

This morning was a chilly one with temperatures hovering around freezing point. We didn’t expect that after a mild November for the most part and a tropical October. Now is the time to think about preparing for the winter.

Freezing Medway

It's cold in the Medway towns

Have you thought about getting kitted up with a big winter coat, gloves and hat to keep warm this winter? It’s also worth checking out your car to make sure the tyre pressure, battery and headlights are OK. I went to Halfords the other week to have a front light replaced and found the pricing and service very reasonable.

Christmas Lights

Most of the Christmas lights in Medway are on now with Chatham Chritmas lights starting the trend followed by Strood Christmas lights, Gillingham Christmas lights and I opened Hempstead Valley’s Christmas Grotto over the weekend. Still to come the fantastic Rochester Christmas lights and Dickens Christmas Market and Rainham Christmas lights this Friday.

Busiest Days for Christmas Shoppers

Boffins (who know much more about shopping habits than I do) suggest that the High Streets will be hit the hardest with Xmas Shoppers on 2nd December 2011 at 2.30pm – that’s a Friday – the Saturday 2 weeks before Christmas Day will be the busiest shopping day of the festive season.

What “gifts” has your cat dragged home?

  • Half a snake
  • A teddy bear
  • Barbie dolls
  • The kitten from next door
  • Frogs (that are still alive!)

Jekyll and Hyde summer

Our weather is being described as a Jekyll and Hyde summer – as soaring temperatures are expected to return by the end of the week.

Forecasters say that in the second half of this week Kent will see temperatures get back up to the early 30′s.
