Medway Service Station

This morning traffic on the M2 London bound (between J5 Sittingbourme and J4 Gillingham) was diverted via the Medway Services due to an oil spillage and generator falling off the back of a lorry damaging the road surface.

I bet the sales of warm pies and coffee increased as frustrated drivers decided to take a break from the queuing traffic and head into the Medway Services.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever had at a service station? I once had one of the best coffees ever at a service station near Okehampton!

After The Heat Comes The Rain

Medway Heat Wave

After temperatures peaked at just over 30 Celsius yesterday in Medway we’re now braced for torrential isolated downpours.

London in the heat

Heat wave in London

The Environment Agency and Met Office both say to expect around 40mm of rain in a few hours. The top times to keep your umbrella to hand today, according to my sources, are brunch time (10am onwards) and during the afternoon/evening commute (4pm-7pm).

Even hail stones may fall in an abrupt change from the Medway heat wave!

Kent Accent

According to an article in the Daily Mail this morning it all depends what part of Kent you’re from and what twang your accent has.

Top 5 accents for lucky job hunters:

  1. Cambridge
  2. Essex
  3. Irish
  4. London
  5. Newcastle
Do you have a Kent accent?

Do you have a Kent accent?

If you’re from Medway it’s likely that you may have a hint of estuary English from Essex and London (both in the top 5) and that could be very good for your career prospects! Head south and slightly further west to Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells and you’ll find plenty of posh accents (similar to the Cambridge accent) the number 1 accent to have on a job hunt.

Note that the London accent also appeared in the top 5 accents most likely to hinder your career. So, be careful of that Cockney twang!

What Drives You Around The Bend?

Last week on the show you told me about your best and worst roundabouts in Medway. Here’s an article on Medway roundabouts featured in today’s Medway Messenger.
