This morning was a chilly one with temperatures hovering around freezing point. We didn’t expect that after a mild November for the most part and a tropical October. Now is the time to think about preparing for the winter.
It's cold in the Medway towns
Have you thought about getting kitted up with a big winter coat, gloves and hat to keep warm this winter? It’s also worth checking out your car to make sure the tyre pressure, battery and headlights are OK. I went to Halfords the other week to have a front light replaced and found the pricing and service very reasonable.
Christmas Lights
Most of the Christmas lights in Medway are on now with Chatham Chritmas lights starting the trend followed by Strood Christmas lights, Gillingham Christmas lights and I opened Hempstead Valley’s Christmas Grotto over the weekend. Still to come the fantastic Rochester Christmas lights and Dickens Christmas Market and Rainham Christmas lights this Friday.
Medway Travel Chaos
This morning has seen large traffic jams all over the Medway towns after last night’s heavy rain continued into the early morning.
There were queues along the A289 Wainscott Eastern Bypass, Four Elms Hill, Frindsbury Hill and delays through the Medway towns of Chatham and Strood.
Surviving Armageddon at a Radio Station
Are radio stataions ready for Armageddon?
This morning’s heavy traffic reminded me of this time last year when the snow was so heavy all the roads froze up with traffic and it was almost impossible to get anywhere in Kent.
Radio presenters, producers and other radio station staff had to stay over at the radio studios/couldn’t leave/didn’t want to leave. It got me to thinking about Armageddon and the end of the world (isn’t that supposed to happen in 2012?) Would you have enough essentials to survive in an air tight and sound proofed studio?
Plus points: there’d be enough tea & coffee to last until the year 3000, all the music you can listen to and when you’re bored of that there are always jingles, you could continue broadcasting until the bitter end!
Minus points: Fails… You may only be able to access music by Jedward on the playout system and also where would you go to the toilet?
