Strong winds are continuing to cause problems in Kent.

A number of roads and bridges, including the M25′s QEII bridge, have been closed off again today. It’s a dangerous driving day and motorists are urged to take care.

A number of train services, like the Chatham Mainline and Medway Valley Line, also experienced delays after debris and tree branches were blown on to the tracks overnight.

Kent’s Animal Rescues

According to a freedom of information request the most rescued animal in Kent is a horse (obviously getting stuck in ditches across the county).

Medway has seen a fair share of the rescues including, in second place on the league table, a cat that got its head stuck inside a child’s toy and (third placed birds)  one Medway bird got stuck up in a tree. Isn’t that where birds are supposed to nest and live anyway?

You can read more about animal rescues at Kent Online (including the story of a trapped elephant in Kent!)

Pothole Signs

A survey today reveals that 90% of drivers don’t feel like they’re adequately warned about potholes on the road ahead.

Motorists are campaigning and urging the UK Government to introduce a national pothole warning sign nationwide. What would it look like? Here’s a design I thought up earlier (a big black hole!)

Pothole Warning Sign

Could this sign warn against potholes?

Stonehenge is popular for summer solstice

A view of stonehenge

Today is the longest day of the year and English Heritage informed us this morning, by a Tweet, that 18,000 people turned up at Stonehenge to celebrate summer solstice.

Where Will You Holiday This Year?

Statistics reveal that more of us would prefer to stay at home and holiday at a forest resort or in the South West of England with a traditional Devon & Cornwall holiday. A third of motorists have cut car usage due to rising fuel costs so how will we get there?
