Rochester Christmas Market

Published on 14/11/2011, in Radio Chat, by

It’s just over 2 weeks until the festivities in Rochester swing into action. It looks like a great line up as Medway’s biggest Christmas light switch on will take place at 3:45pm on Wednesday 30th November 2011.

Warm hearty food, mulled wine, local produce and Christmas gifts will be on offer at the Christmas market in Rochester.

There will be a lantern procession along Rochester High Street, starting at Blue Boar Lane, ahead of the Rochester Christmas lights switch on and this year it will be American rapper Vanilla Ice doing the honours at Rochester Castle Gardens.

How to Spot a Liar

Liars

Apparently you may be lied to between 10 to 200 times a day so how do you spot a liar?

Here are my top 5 how to spot a liar tips:

  1. Liars tend to use qualifying language like “to tell you the truth” or “honestly”.
  2. Liars will stare into your eyes and freeze all upper body movements.
  3. Liars tend to have fake smiles.
  4. Liars often point their feet towards an exit.
  5. Finally, ask a suspected liar to tell their story backwards. They’ll find it difficult!

Kent’s Mid Week Rainbow

Many listeners sent in photos of a bright rainbow that appeared all over Kent yesterday morning at around 9am. It was even visible in London too!

Here’s a my photo from the studio window looking towards Rochester Castle and Rochester Cathedral in Medway.

Things We Learned on Twitter

You Heard it First Here

Social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook are helping to speed up and improve emergency service responses to natural disasters and health emergencies.

Tweet the latest news

The rate at which news can spread across social networks means that, in many cases, you learn about breaking news first online.

What did you learn about online recently?

  • Sarah heard about the death of Amy Winehouse first on Facebook
  • John found out about the new iPhone on Twitter.
  • Richard had first discovered the earthquake in Haiti on Twitter.

Medway Mile 2011

It was great to see so many people at the Medway Mile this year including The Worshipful Mayor of Medway Cllr Ted Baker, Reh Chishti MP, Cllr Mike O’Brien, Cllr Tristan Osborne and runners from the KM Group Bob Bounds and Dan Bloom to name a few.

The evening’s entertainment consisted of the fantastic Black Eagles from Tanzania balancing on each other’s heads, circus acts and a fire eater! It was all rounded off with a fantastic firework finale lighting up Rochester Castle and Cathedral. I had many phone calls congratulating Medway Council on such a great event. I hear that the Medway Mile 2012 is going to be even bigger and better. Watch this space!
